HONDA CBR 929 RR / CBR 1100 XX Bar End Installation Instructions

Download 1) Unpack the bar ends. The following parts should be in the kit: 2 bar ends 2 stainless steel lockwashers2 stainless steel Allen bolts. 2) Remove both stock bar ends usingalarge Phillips screwdriver for the CBR’s (see Figure 2) or Allen wrench for the ST1100. You need to prevent the bar end from rotating as you turn the screwdriver or Allen wrench. This maybe a bit tough as Honda uses a heavy thread-locking compound. If the screws are overly tight, wrap a rag, piece of leather, sheet of rubber, etc. around the OEM bar end to protect it from scratches. Then grab the bar end with a set of channel locks while loosening the screw as shown in Figure 3. If additional torque is needed, try aright angle screwdriver or an impact driver (manualorair driven). Such tools are shown in Figures 4 and 5. 3) Note: Installation of the heavy bar ends requires that the OEM bar end mounting hardware internal to the handlebars be retained. Figure 6 shows the OEMCBR929RRHonda bars-other bars are similar. The items circled are those parts that are reused. 4) Slide the lockwashers on both Allen bolts and put some medium weight thread-locking compound on the threads as shown in Figure7. We recommend Permatex’s “Threadlocker Blue”. 5) Slide Allen bolts with washers thru the heavy bar ends and thread Allen bolt into OEM mounting hardware (which should still be in the handlebars) on throttle side. Note that the crescent protrusion on the bar end must mate into the crescent shaped depression on the OEM mounting hardware in the handlebar. Figure 8 shows the crescent shaped protrusion on the CBR heavybarend. Grip the bar end tightly and tighten the Allen screw with a 4.5 mm Allen wrench (Figure 9). Repeat for the clutch side. 6) Snug Allen bolts down to 60 in-lbs. Figure 10 shows the installed bar end on a CBR929RR. Figure 11 shows the installation ona CBR 1100XX.
